Construction
A single row of barrel rollers set at a steep angle between the shaft washer and a spherically seated housing washer. Each roller aligns itself on the spherical seat, so the whole bearing is self-aligning.
Load capacity
Extremely high axial capacity, and can also take a share of radial load (roughly 55% of the axial load). A minimum axial load must always be present to stop the rollers skidding.
Typical applications
Extruders, crane hooks, marine propeller shafts, hydro turbines, hydraulic presses.
