Construction

The line joining the ball’s two contact points is inclined to the radial plane (typically 15°, 25° or 40°). One shoulder of each ring is relieved so the bearing can support load along that inclined line.

Load capacity

Supports combined radial and axial load, but in one direction only. Single-row bearings are therefore mounted in pairs (back-to-back DB, face-to-face DF, tandem DT) or replaced by a double-row type. The larger the contact angle, the higher the axial capacity.

Machine-tool spindles, centrifugal pumps, worm gearboxes, automotive water pumps, compressors.
